Jane Wilde Designs
Warrington, Cheshire, UK
Jane Wilde Designs is a Cheshire-based furniture painting and upcycling studio dedicated to transforming pre-loved pieces into distinctive, high-quality furnishings. Combining craftsmanship with creativity, the business offers a bespoke approach to furniture restoration, ensuring each item is both functional and visually unique.
Creativity has been a lifelong passion for Jane. From an early age, she demonstrated a natural artistic talent, including being invited to paint a mural in her school hallway. Although the building no longer stands, this early recognition marked the beginning of a continued journey in art and design.
At just sixteen, Jane began experimenting with interior transformation, painting the doors in her first flat in a distinctive Art Nouveau style. When the property was later sold, the estate agent specifically highlighted these artistic features—contributing to the flat achieving double its original purchase price.
With a background in construction and years spent raising four children as a single parent, Jane developed a strong sense of resilience, practicality, and design awareness. Her appreciation for furniture has always leaned toward the character and quality of second-hand pieces—long before the term “pre-loved” became popular. She has consistently favoured originality over mass-produced, fast furniture.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, Jane found herself, for the first time in years, having to slow down. Channeling her energy into creativity, she began painting and transforming her own furniture. What started as a personal project quickly grew into a business, with pieces selling successfully on Facebook Marketplace.
As demand increased, Jane established a dedicated workshop, initially as a weekend venture alongside her construction career. Her work gained further traction through platforms such as Etsy, alongside the development of her own website, where she continues to receive excellent customer feedback.
Sustainability is at the core of Jane Wilde Designs. By restoring and reimagining existing furniture, the business actively reduces waste and prevents items from ending up in landfill.
Jane also works with innovative, eco-conscious materials, including Recolour—a remanufactured paint that repurposes surplus paint, preventing it from going to waste. As a stockist of Recolour products, she both uses and sells this environmentally responsible paint via her website and eBay.
Philosophy
Jane’s work is driven by a genuine passion for transformation. While preparation can be the most demanding stage of the process, the reward comes in seeing a once-forgotten piece brought back to life—beautiful, functional, and full of character.
Her ethos is simple: create original, lasting furniture with a story—while contributing to a more sustainable way of living.
