I’ve always been a little crafty, it was in the genes and during my 30 year career as a Paediatric ICU & ED nurse I found crafting, gardening, photography and then furniture painting a great escape. Kind of like my therapy. I think a lot of people can relate to that. 10yrs ago after my father passed I decided life was too short and pretty much took up furniture painting full-time. I had some help and guidance from some great friends already in the industry, however my self taught skills grew from the inspiration of many great furniture artists around the world. Especially the ones delving into glorious colour. Then I discovered the wonderful world of Decoupage and the endless design options available. I now have an enormous collection of papers at home...no I’m not a hoarder...maybe slightly obsessed...I have had the honour to be the Australian Brand Ambassador for Mint By Michelle since 2022 and more recently Belle Stencils. I am also frequently asked to create pieces for Iron Orchid Designs, to showcase their new releases. My greatest supporter is my wonderful husband, who stopped asking me “when was I going to get a proper job” years ago now. We have 2 amazing boys and are often on standby to help me move,rearrange or deliver furniture. Then of course my gorgeous fur baby George, my loyal shadow who is often covered in paint himself.
