The Nook by Sandra

My creative journey as a furniture artist began around four years ago, sparked by a desire to build something unique, expressive, and full of character. I was drawn to the idea of transforming everyday pieces into something entirely new—breathing fresh life into furniture that might otherwise be overlooked. What started as a personal experiment quickly became a passion, and eventually, The Nook by Sandra was born.

I’m a self-taught artist, and I’ve never been tied to a single style or formula. That’s the beauty of this work: every piece tells its own story. I let the furniture guide me—its shape, its texture, its history—and I respond to it with color, technique, and intuition. My process is ever-evolving, and I love the freedom of not having a fixed aesthetic. It allows me to create with honesty and imagination, turning each item into a one-of-a-kind statement.

Originally from Serbia, I spent over 20 years living in Hungary before settling in Bristol, where I’m now based. These places have each left their mark on me. My Eastern European heritage, combined with the eclectic spirit of Bristol, influences how I see design, color, and craftsmanship. It’s a blend of old and new, bold and subtle, minimal and ornate—just like the pieces I work on.
