Anne-Marie’s Madhouse
Blackdowns Hills, Somerset, UK
My furniture painting journey began after our family lost our home and all of our possessions in a house fire. As we rebuilt our lives, I started buying second-hand furniture simply because it was affordable. Before long, I picked up a paintbrush and discovered that transforming those pieces was something I genuinely loved. What started out of necessity quickly became a passion.
I've always been obsessed with colour. I'm drawn to bold, joyful shades and love experimenting with patterns and unexpected colour combinations. I believe furniture should make you smile, spark conversation, and become a feature in your home rather than simply blending into the background.
I live in a small rural village, where I work from my home studio surrounded by countryside and family life. As my boys grew older and became more independent, I finally had the opportunity to turn my passion into a business.
Every piece I paint is carefully prepared and thoughtfully designed to celebrate its character while giving it a fresh new lease of life. I'm passionate about sustainability and love showing that quality furniture doesn't need replacing—it just needs a little imagination. Whether it's a statement piece in vibrant colour or something with a more timeless feel, my aim is always the same, to create furniture that brings happiness into people's homes.
